Victorian Floor Tiling

Project - Victorian House Hallway.

This project was conducted in a Victorian semi-detached house with a recessed front door. The floor of the recess was laid with original Victorian tiles. The customer's wish was to extend the floor through the hallway to match the original tiles in the recess. Tiles for the hallway were reproduced to match the colour, pattern and size of the originals to produce the authentic period feel throughout. The floor was sealed and polished to protect and enhance the colour of the tiles.

The floor was only the start of the restoration work for this hall. The customer went on to return the hallway to its original Victorian character.

Project - Public House.

This job was undertaken in a Grade 2 Listed Public House in the centre of London.

The original Victorian Geometric floor had been damaged beyond repair so a new floor had to be laid to match the original. The concrete floor was not level so a layer of screed was applied to ensure a good level base before laying the new tiles.

Project - Georgian House Hallway.

This is a rear hallway in a Georgian house. Although people associate these tiles with the Victorian era, we're sure you will agree that this style of floor also lends itself to the Georgian style.

Project - Porch.

The customer had a porch built on the front of their property and wanted a floor design that would give the porch a "wow" factor with a traditional feeling to it.

Project - Terraced House.

This property was a hallway in a Victorian terraced house. The customer wanted a geometric floor more in keeping with the age of the property. The concrete base had perished due to the glued laminate wood previously covering the floor, and the surface was very uneven. The floor was levelled with latex screed to ensure a level surface prior to tiling.
